Dear Governor Palin: Re: Senator McCain’s position regarding illegal immigration is out-of-step with reality & mainstream America.

Your background as a clear-eyed-thinker, regardless of party leadership, was never so much in demand as today. For all of Senator McCain’s assets, - on the subject of illegal immigration, he’s a complete washout. With our national jobless rate at 5.7%, and 7.3% here in California, Senator McCain seeks “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”, AKA, - a pathway to citizenship, for millions of illegal aliens. In the 2007 words of Senator McCain, "So let's from time to time remember that these are God's children". Such terminology, “God’s children”, also applies to unskilled American workers. These U.S. citizens have the fewest resources with which to cope with the illegal immigrant onslaught. We can’t allow illegals to displace American workers. These unfortunate American workers can’t live two families in a garage, or 20 in a trailer, and suffer similar indignities just to sell their first-world labors at third-world levels. It’s bottom-of-the-barrel wage rates, not hard work, that unskilled American workers reject because they can’t maintain their dignities or feed their families.
Although Senator McCain has recently emphasized that border security must come first, it was only last year when he said, “I think the (border) fence is least effective. But I’ll build the goddamned fence if they want it.”

The August 31, 2008 edition of the Los Angeles Times** spells-out the horrors of illegal immigrant labor displacing American workers. As nearly 600 illegal aliens were being arrested by federal officials, local American citizens in Laurel Mississippi were applauding the crackdown. Some of these Americans had repeatedly been denied employment by the offending company, Howard Industries. With hundreds of illegal alien workers now in ICE custody, the company placed a billboard in town that read, “ Howard Industries is now hiring”. Laurel Mississippi is a microcosm of the ravages of illegal immigration. Here in California, some 3 million illegal aliens are costing the State’s taxpayers $9.4 billion annually (net) in unfunded federally mandated taxes, while we attempt to close a budget shortfall of $15,3 billion.

We’ve had it up to our gills with the efforts of Senators Kennedy & McCain to ram illegal immigration down our throats. I hope you can bring Senator McCain to his senses regarding this matter.
Sincerely,

Michael Scott
