As usual, Mike Scott misinteprets government statistics. If anyone is not working, it is not because of immigrants, legal or illegal. If they live in the Rust Belt, lack of jobs may be the reason. If they are uneducated, white, female with two or more illegitimate children by different men to whom she is not married, she collects welfare which pays her more than a job (This is the average welfare collector in the USA). If they are simply not looking for work or are pregant or too lazy to work they may be without a job. As Scott even quotes, there are a "variety of reasons" why these 16-64 year olds aren't working, but illegals aren't the reason. In Arizona, 75 Percent of construction jobs are held by legal residents, mostly of Mexican origin, and 25 percent by illegals. That only means there aren't enough Americans or legal residents in Arizona willing to fill all construction jobs. If, then, a Michigan or Ohio legal resident sits in those two Rust Belt states complaining about not finding work or blaming the two dozen illegals in those states for their lack of work, all they have to do is catch a Greyhound bus to Arizona and they can find instant work, or Las Vegas where people can work 24-hours after they step off a bus. For them or Scott to complain about lack of work for Americans or to blame illegals for that situation, quit it and face reality.
If those legals in the Midwest wanted to work, they can, they just have to have the guts to pick up and move to the Southwest or Southern California where thousands of jobs go begging everyday.
