ACLU, 39 Drumm Street
San Francisco, CA 94111Dear Mr. Guttentag: Re: Your recent appearance on the Lou Dobbs show
Did you have your fingers crossed when you said, to paraphrase?:- “Enforcement of our laws must be consistent with the Constitution, and not violate the Constitution and punish innocent American workers.” You went on to say that such enforcement “must be consistent with the American values that we share, of fairness and due process and respect for the rule of law.”
The ACLU used the above spiel to protect illegal immigrants using phony or stolen SS numbers, and used another non sequitur in the Hazleton case, - only the federal government can enforce immigration laws. The ACLU’s bottom line approach to illegal immigration is that the welfare of illegal immigrants is more important than the welfare of innocent unskilled American workers, and equally innocent American taxpayers.
I doubt if the ACLU gives a hoot about innocent American workers, and hopes that the federal government continues its weak immigration enforcement policies.
Perhaps the most sacred American value is “Consent of the Governed”, something that your organization holds in disdain. Whatever the original objectives of the ACLU may have been, they’ve now metastasized into the astonishing credo, “What’s ours is ours is ours, what’s yours is unconstitutional”. Just as Dracula was terrified of sunlight, the ACLU is terrified of “Consent of the Governed”. Instead of the ACLU’s oft repeated fidelity to the Constitution, it’s now determined to shape our country into its own manic mold, without the “Consent of the Governed”. The last thing this nation needs is for the ACLU to rescue it from the rigors of self-determination.
The overwhelming majority of Americans staunchly oppose illegal immigration because it’s against our laws. We try to stop them and are called racists & bigots. We must pay for their babies, their schooling and hospital care, and turn blind eyes as they displace unskilled Americans from the workplace. We appeal to our elected representatives like Senators Kennedy, Reid, Specter & Leahy, who respond with twisted wampum aimed at feathering their own ideological and political nests, by keeping well below the radar just to remain in power.
In the final analysis, no democratic society can indefinitely allow a relentless flood of illegal immigrants to contravene its laws, violate its borders, overwhelm its infrastructures and social systems, diminish employment possibilities for its indigenous uneducated and poor, and degrade its way of life, as is happening here in California, and across our nation.
It appears as if the ACLU has overlooked the fact that the age of American innocence with immigration has ended, and that your organization is becoming more irrelevant while mainstream American are becoming more sovereign. Just like the little Dutch boy holding back the leaking dike, the ACLU doesn’t have enough fingers & thumbs to blunt all the sovereign voters in Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and California, et al, and in approximately 1,400 municipalities throughout this land from ensuring that immigrant rights don’t belong to those who have no right to be here.
In your messianic zeal to reshape our nation into something the founding fathers never intended, you’ve forgotten Victor Hugo’s, "There is one thing stronger than all the kings and queens, and all the armies of the world combined, and that is the power of an idea whose time has come". This will be the ACLU’s Waterloo and America’s deliverance.
Sincerely,
Michael Scott
